Conventional wisdom says if 3/5 of your starting offensive line leaves your team; one of which was a Pro Bowl player in what is arguably the most important OLine position (with a right handed QB); you should probably find some quality replacements. 2013 First overall draft pick Eric Fisher is switching positions from RT to LT, and there is hope he can find his groove after a fairly disappointing first season. Fisher recently underwent shoulder surgery and, had a sports hernia repaired. His play must drastically improve if the Chiefs want to keep Alex Smith upright long enough to throw. Another are the Chiefs may want to address is that of a receiver to replace the departed Dexter McCluster. McCluster’s numbers were not eye popping but he was a solid 4th receiver behind Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery. Andy Reid runs the West Coast Offense so the more play-makers on offense the better. The Chiefs could use another pass catcher to stretch the field in the form of a WR or a Pass Catching TE. Their Safety play was also suspect at times and both starting Safeties are not with the team any longer. I have a feeling that Reid will want another offensive weapon for Alex Smith to get the ball too.
This draft is extremely important since the Chiefs didn’t get a lot of production from last year’s crop of rookies and they didn’t make much noise in Free Agency; except for the sound of valuable pieces from last year’s team slamming the door on the way out. So who should the Chiefs draft?
