Happy Monday, Bears fans! Time for another installment of Bear Dawn, the latest Chicago Bears’ news from around the internet. Here is what you need to know for Monday June 15th, 2015.
This Bears’ second minicamp takes place this week, and attendance is mandatory for all players. It will be very interesting to see if tight end Martellus Bennett decides to join the team this week. If Bennett does not show up, he will face fines from the organization.
Yesterday, I took a look at Bennett’s role in the Bears’ offense. He has huge upside under new offensive coordinator Adam Gase, making it beneficial to both sides for him to show up as soon as possible.
This week’s minicamp will take place from Tuesday to Thursday, before the Bears report to training camp on July 29th. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune takes a look at 10 questions facing the team heading into this minicamp.
Bears’ 2015 fourth round pick Jeremy Langford, “Sees similarities between offenses at Michigan State and Chicago Bears,” according to Mike Griffith of MLive.com.

“Playing at Michigan State, I’m coming from a pro-style offense that has the same concepts, and it’s making it easier for me to learn,” Langford told Griffith. “It’s really just changing the verbiage of the plays and blitz pickups, but the same things we do at Michigan State are the same things we’re doing in the league.”
This could be a great sign for the Bears, as Langford had a ton of success while toting the rock for Michigan State. Langford was the starting back for the Spartans for the last two seasons. He finished with a combined 568 carries for 2,944 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Langford will be a nice back-up running back for the Bears this season, and has some serious upside going forward.
Jeff Dickerson of ESPN took a look at Tracy Porter, a cornerback who the Bears signed as a free agent last week. Porter is arguably the favorite to be the Bears’ nickel cornerback, as he reunites with head coach John Fox, who coached Porter with the Denver Broncos in 2012.
"“I think he’s smart, he knows how to cover, and he’s got excellent ball skills,” Fox said of Porter. “He’s been with a couple teams (Raiders and Redskins) since I last had him, but I like what I’ve seen so far. We haven’t put him in a bunch because he’s still learning the system. But he’ll pick it up fast. We’re hoping he helps us.”"
From the Chicago Sun-Times over the weekend, Adam Jahns talks about Kyle Fuller taking the next step in 2015, and Patrick Finley writes about how Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White “Wow each other” on the field.
We also started our Countdown to Kickoff series here at Bear Goggles On over the weekend with #92 Pernell McPhee. #91 David Bass was profiled on Sunday, and look out for #90 Jeremiah Ratliff today. That means there are only 90 days until the start of the regular season!
That is all for today, Bears’ fans. Have a great Monday, and of course, Bear Down!
