Braxton Miller, quarterback? Wide receiver? Tailback? No matter what position you label the Buckeye, you must always label Miller a team player. Having changed from signal caller to wide out, the Ohio State Buckeye seems to be adjusting just fine to his new position. Through eight games, Miller, has compiled just under five hundred total yards from scrimmage and four scores. There is no doubt that Miller is raw. He reeks of athleticism, elusiveness, and untapped potential. You may be thinking, how would Miller fit in with the Bears wide receiving corps once they lift former first round selection Kevin White off of the injury reserve.
"“Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer has gone on record saying Miller could easily run a sub 4.4 40 yard dash”"
Well, Miller would take time to develop as a pass catcher, but his athletic skill set does have some immediate value. Add in the fact that Miller has a 6’2, 216 pound frame, it’s easy to see that if you draft the former quarterback you will have a high potential project player on your roster. With the Bears current kick returner, Marc Mariani, underwhelming more and more as each week goes on – Miller could develop his skills as a receiver, while he mans the return duties. Mariani is set to be a free agent come this off season, and add in the fact that Ohio State Head Coach Urban Meyer has gone on record saying Miller could easily run a sub 4.4 40 yard dash and voilà – you have a new kick returner. It truly is hard to predict what Braxton Miller may become due to majority of his college tape being at a different position, but when I look at Miller I see a raw version of Jacoby Jones. Make sure to catch the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) take on the Golden Gophers of Minnesota (4-4) this Saturday night.
