6. Akiem Hicks
Even with Freeman being one of the best middle linebackers in the NFL last year, his suspension from steroids combined with the amazing 2016 of Hicks makes him a touch higher. Hicks is a monster up front and if he can put the same sack totals with Eddie Goldman, Jaye Howard and a step forward from Jonathan Bullard, a lot is to be liked.
Last year Hicks had the best season of his career. It is a breath of fresh air to see a Bears player signed and then actually living up to his expectations. The Bears did hit this one, and it could be hit out of the park.
Hicks is entering a free agent season. It would be an ideal situation for the Bears if Hicks were to have a 2017 season similar to his 2016 season. The Bears would feel great about giving him an extension and having a consistent force up front for years to come.
