Who is on and who is off of the Bears 53-man roster?

With one preseason game to go, most of the big decisions have been made. One or two players could be competing for real jobs, but now the Bears will get a chance to build with their practice squad players. So who should be expected to make the Bears 53-man roster?

Quarterback 3, Mike Glennon, Mitchell Trubisky, Mark Sanchez

Reports from game four suggest that Connor Shaw will get to play the majority of this game. This the Bears helping him put something on tape for future considerations, but he is not going to do anything on Thursday to put himself on the roster. These three are locked in.

Running back, 3, Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham

The questions will come down Ka’Deem Carey and Jeremy Langford. For Carey the can place him on the IR, but he is a free agent next year anyway. Will they just let him go now? Langford has hardly been healthy and given all of the good play from these three, they should be fine without either.

Full back, 1, Michael Burton

If the Bears want to commit to running behind Jordan Howard they have to have a fullback on the roster. Neither fullback has pulled away with the job, but Burton should get the spot.

Wide Receiver, 5, Kevin White, Markus Wheaton, Kendall Wright, Deonte Thompson, Tanner Gentry

This position has been shaken up since the last edition. Cameron Meredith has found himself on the Injured Reserved with a torn ACL. The Bears do not have a strong receiving corps and after their losing their best player it is likely the weakness of the team. They could add Victor Cruz or Josh Bellamy to the roster, but neither has shown anything deserving of the reward.

Tight End 4: Zach Miller, Adam Shaheen, Dion Sims, Daniel Brown

With the extra spot gained by Meredith, a player such as Daniel Brown should be considered a better bet to make the team than Bellamy and Cruz. Brown has some wide receiver ability and would mostly line up in the slot, where Cruz would have anyway. Brown is also a better blocker and can play in-line and a variety of spots on offense. Add in special teams value and he should be getting a job.

Offensive Line, 9, Bobby Massie, Charles Leno, Kyle Long, Josh Sitton, Cody Whitehair, Hroniss Grasu, Jordan Morgan,

The offensive line is the same as last edition. William Poehls got some playing time in the third week and looked impressive, but he will need another strong game at multiple positions to get the nod.
