Chicago Bears week two injury report
After an injury heavy start to the year, who will suit up for week 2 against the Buccaneers?
The Chicago Bears lost two major players after week 1. Jerrell Freeman and Kevin White both got sent to IR after their week one bout against the Falcons.
The Chicago Bears will travel to Tampa shorthanded with three major starters already on IR. Who else will miss the game on Sunday?
Kyle Long G: Out (ankle)
After three more limited practices, Kyle Long didn’t make the trip to Tampa Bay. The Bears’ linchpin in the trenches has now logged 5 practices, but has yet to take the field this season. The company line for Long has been “soon,” but there is a mysterious vibe starting to form around Long’s health. Expect Tom Compton to take over for Long like he did last week.
Benny Cunningham RB: Doubtful (ankle)
Cunningham hasn’t practiced since suffering an ankle injury against the Falcons and is listed as doubtful. Expect Cohen and Howard to take most if not all the carries on Sunday.
Jordan Howard RB: Questionable (shoulder)
Howard was limited in practice all week, but expect him to suit up on Sunday. His availability has never been in doubt against the Bucs.
Markus Wheaton WR: Questionable (finger)
After missing last week, Wheaton logged a full week of limited practices. Considering the Bears lack of depth at receiver, Wheaton’s return could go a long ways to sparking the passing attack. Expect him to suit up, but check back before kickoff if you plan on using him in your fantasy lineup.
Joshua Bellamy WR: Questionable (ankle)
Bellamy logged two limited practices this week. With receivers dropping left and right, expect Bellamy to suit up even if he isn’t able to go full throttle.
Prince Amukamara CB: Questionable (ankle)
After being doubtful last week, it looks like Amukamara has a fairly decent chance of suiting up on Sunday. The Bears could certainly use him against the likes of Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson.
Christian Jones LB: Questionable (back)
With Jerrell Freeman being sent to IR, the Bears promoted Jones from the practice squad to the 53 man roster. The veteran linebacker logged limited practices all week and should be a go for Sunday. Expect Jones to mainly contribute on special teams provided no further injuries occur.
Deon Bush S: Questionable (hamstring)
After logging two limited practices, Bush was a scratch on Friday. His status for Sunday is murky. However, with Eddie Jackson and Quintin Demps being healthy, Bush’s role would be minimal even if he suited up.
