Lamarr Houston is back on the Chicago Bears
When the Chicago Bears released Tre McBride the moved seemed questionable. Are they bringing up Tanner Gentry? Was it something McBride did off of the field? No one was sure, as he had all but tied up the number two starting wide receiver spot just a day or so ago. However, we now have the corresponding move, as the Chicago Bears have claimed Lamarr Houston off of waivers.
Of course, everyone knows Lamarr Houston. Houston spent camp with the team and was a surprise release, that was later found out to be injury related. Houston took some time off, but with an injury to Whitney Merciless in Houston, the team gave Houston a shot in Houston.
Houston was a rotational player for five games with the Texans. He recorded seven tackles, one sack, and forced a fumble over that time. However, as the Texans transition from playoff contender to looking towards 2018, they saw no longterm plan for Houston and wanted to give their younger players a shot.

This is probably the type of thinking the Bears should be subscribing to, but here they are claiming a 30-year old pass rusher with multiple knee issues. He is likely to see the field soon, but hopefully it is not over younger players. Isaiah Irving and Howard Jones may not bring much. However, there is more unknown with them than there is with Houston. The drop off in play cannot be that bad to the point where it would be a major issue. Hopefully the Bears understand where they are, and are just bringing in a veteran presence to help the younger players.
