Tre McBride was surprisingly released on Tuesday. Did it have to do with a locker room altercation?

Tre McBride was released on Tuesday. This came as a bit of a surprise when initially seeing the news. McBride had the second most snaps amongst wide receivers last week, and it looked like he had solidified himself in the pecking order ahead of Markus Wheaton. Then, poof, he’s gone.

However, within about 24 hours of the release, it comes across the newswire that the Bears have claimed Lamarr Houston off of waivers. It makes sense  that they would claim him. He has familiarity with the team, and Leonard Floyd is out for the season. Therefore, he is an easy plugin. Sure, it could have been someone else and not McBride, but at least the release was for a position of need.

However, as the day has gone on, we are finding out that it certainly could have been someone else and not McBride released. However, there is a reason he was the specific choice.

More from Bear Goggles On

Apparently, on the Bears property there was a loud argument, and heard by some members of the media. It caused a bit of a commotion before being brushed aside. Now, we are finding out that the argument was between Josh Bellamy and McBride.

Now, the release of McBride is interesting. Bellamy had been playing over McBride recently, but was a surprise inactive on Sunday. Clearly the two have been fighting for playing time and may have gotten personal. Whoever was the right side, we will not know. However, it appears clear that the Bears are on #teamBellamy moving forward.
