The Chicago Bears 2018 Draft Needs
Surprisingly, this could very easily be a need if the Bears decide to not have the perpetually suspended Jerrell Freeman back. Even if they do decide to bring him back, some additional depth here would be great. When the reserves are in, which they are frequently, the stability of this position is compromised, and it is shaky at best. With all the injuries and Freeman’s suspension that Bears must do something to shore up this position.
The Bears need to do something better here.

Some of the better prospects out there include Iowa’s Josey Jewell, Vanderbilt’s Owen Burks, and Alabama’s Rashaan Evans. Any of these three players could step in and back up Danny Trevathan or possibly work their way into a starting role should Freeman not be back. This means that guys like Nick Kwiatkoski, who has done a decent job, and John Timu, will need to step up and perform or they could find themselves seeking employment elsewhere.
After all the issues the Bears had this year with the inside linebacker and injuries, shoring up that position would help make the defense more solid. In a 3-4 defense, both inside linebacker spots are vital. The Bears had two solid guys in there until injuries and suspensions took hold. Now, with Freeman’s future up in the air in Chicago, getting a player for depth would be a smart move.
