The Chicago Bears are weak on the edges. They may be looking to re-sign Lamarr Houston
The previous Lamarr Houston signing was a bad one. Injuries were the catalyst, but overall there was not enough production to go with the availability, and in training camp, the Chicago Bears decided to part ways with Houston. Of course, we know the story from there. Houston is now back on the Bears, and in the weird workings of the NFL, it actually might make sense for the Bears to re-sign him. Will they do it?
Houston is playing great football. In three games since signing with the Chicago Bears, he has four sacks. They have been impressive and have come with some solid rush attempts. The fact of the matter is, at this very moment. Lamarr Houston is the player they have at this position.
That includes Pernell McPhee, whose price tag and cap relief almost guarantee Houston having a better chance of staying with the team, at least at McPhee’s current price. Aside from that the team only has Leonard Floyd and Willie Young signed on beyond this season. Both are coming off of season-ending injuries, and Young is 32 years old. Houston is only 30.

As much trouble as Houston has brought, he is now in the position where he will have to come back on a very cheap price tag, and on a one-year deal. The Bears should dip their toes back in the Lamarr Houston pool for one more season and give them the option of having that depth coming into training camp.
