The Chicago Bears have begun their interviews. What does the schedule look like?

The Chicago Bears officially kicked off their interview process in their search for a new head coach. Their first interview was in-house with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. This should be expected, and he deserves first crack. He also knew that the team was going to continue their first round of interviews afterwards. This is what the informal schedule looks like for the next two weeks

This week, they will be interviewing the teams on their bye week. This includes both coordinators for the Minnesota Vikings, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo.

The following week, they will be looking to get with the two teams playing this week. Of course, if Matt Nagy and the Kansas City Chiefs win, we may be waiting.

It also should be emphasized that this is the first round of interviews. Just because a coach is not interviewed, or does not have a request in yet does not mean things cannot change. There are still options out there beyond these six. A name to keep in mind is Pete Carmichael.

Still, it looks as though these are the meat and potatoes of the candidates. The four that should stand out are Fangio, DeFilippo, Shurmur and Nagy. If they are looking defense, they have to look Fangio. If they want their offensive guy, these three have the track records worthy of seeing consideration. It may be a few more weeks of waiting, but the short list is starting to form.
