What does the Chicago Bears linebacker room look like post draft?

The Chicago Bears spent most of their 2017 season trying to fill the void left by Jerrell Freeman. Danny  Trevathan got hurt and suspended as well and this team needed some help inside. They sure got it. What does the new linebacker room look like?

Danny Trevathan

Trevathan is still going to be the leader and signal caller for now. However, it is quite evident that Trevathan is going to be preparing to hand that role over to Roquan Smith. Still, what is great about Trevathan is that he has a pretty well rounded game.

Roquan Smith

The eighth overall pick and second defensive player taken in 2018 is going to get some 2018 Rookie of the Year buzz. The best trait Smith possesses is his ability to process quickly which should get him on the field next to Trevathan immediately.

Nick Kwiatkoski

More from Bear Goggles On

Kwiatkoski entered draft weekend with a chance to earn starter snaps and left with the hope of being a long term backup in Chicago.

Joel Iyiegbuniwe

Iyiegbuniwe is unknown, but more interesting than some may think. He plays very fast, and like Smith processes fast. He is undersized, and will have to work on taking on blocks in the box, but he does have starter upside.

John Timu

Timu entered draft weekend all but guaranteed a roster spot and now heads into training camp knowing he is going to spending every last second this summer earning his job.

Jonathan Anderson

Over the past two seasons Timu has played more defensive snaps, but Anderson has played more special teams snaps. It will be interesting to see if they value one over the other as it is unlikely both make the team.

Nyles Morgan

Morgan is going to be right there competing for the last roster spot due to his special teams ability. Do not be surprised if he is the surprise UDFA to make roster noise.

T.J. McCollum

McCollum is a heady player who is in the right place at the right time. However, he likely is not athletic enough to stick in the NFL, especially on a team with some strong special teams options at linebacker.
