Allen Robinson tore his ACL late into the offseason last year. However, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy says that Robinson is ahead of the game

As rookie minicamp has turned into OTA’s, we are beginning to see how the rookies look when mixed in with the veterans. Of course, that does not include veteran free agent Allen Robinson.

Robinson tore his ACL in August of last year and is still recovering. However, when asked about Robinson, and how he has been progressing from the major procedure, Matt Nagy was pleased so far.

"“He’s ahead of the game, he’s looking good,” Nagy said. “Yeah, we’re very — we’re feeling really good about his prognosis as far as getting started and we don’t need to rush it. So he’s been doing great in meetings. He’s answering every question in meetings. He’s out here, focused, doing everything we want him to do.”"

This is obviously great news. Most ACL surgeries will take about a full 12-month recovery. That means that it may not be a full training camp for Robinson.

That is going to be tough to get him used to a new team, new offense and a new ligament in his knee.

So, the faster the Chicago Bears can get him on the field, the better. The more snaps with Mitchell Trubisky before the season, the better. And of course, the more cuts he is able to make on his new knee, the easier that transition will be on Sundays.

So while his potential availability on the field is closing in, it is also good to hear that Matt Nagy is not concerned about his understanding of the offense. Robinson is engaged and vocal in meetings.

The hope is to get him on the field early and have him ready to roll once he is on the field. So far, the news has gone according to plan.
