PFF: Tarik Cohen is an elite breakaway threat
According to Pro Football Focus, Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen had the highest breakaway percentage in the NFL last season
Pro Football Focus seems to love the Chicago Bears. They are always crafting their stats to highlight Chicago Bears, from Adrian Amos to Bryce Callahan, and now to Tarik Cohen.
PFF has rated Tarik Cohen with the best breakaway rate in the NFL last. 50% of his runs were “breakaway” plays or runs of 15 yards or more.
The list of players featured is not a list of the elite NFL running backs. However, they are home run hitters. They are perfect complimentary backs. They have the big play ability in their back pocket and always draw fear into the defense when on the field.
All indications are that this is going to be a big season for Tarik Cohen. He is going to be in a different role from the season before. He is likely going to be involved much more in the passing game, and has added some routes to his tree. In fact, Matt Nagy has raved about his extensive and ease in his route tree.
The fact of the matter is that there are multiple ways to get Tarik Cohen the football in space. From there, he is one of the best in the business of turning that into something big.

He is not big enough and does not create enough for himself to be a 20 touch per game type of running back. However, his style is extremely embraced in todays NFL and when he does touch the football, look out.
