NFL Mocks has Dion Sims as a perfect fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Would the Chicago Bears consider trading him?

It would be tough to say that Dion Sims is a sought-after target at this point in time. However, NFL Mocks tends to disagree and sees him as a perfect target for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

George Stockburger writes:

"Jacksonville has one of the more intriguing rosters in the NFL. One that just carried the team to the AFC championship. However, it still feels imperfect in some ways. Among the positions that seem a bit off-kilter is the tight end. Right now free agent Austin Seferian-Jenkins is their best option, and he’s proven unreliable in the past.Dion Sims isn’t what one would call an instant fix, but he’s a decent all-around player who offers good blocking prowess and okay receiving ability. He fits the run-first type of offense the Jaguars want to run."

The Jaguars have a need at tight end. They have a win-now roster. Is there a chance they have interest in Dion Sims? It would have to be more than the way that Stockburger presents it.

Sims would have to be an instant fix and a player who can ascend a star-studded roster with his reliability at the position. That is how the Jaguars would have to perceive him because the Chicago Bears do see a role in Dion Sims.

Many write off Sims as the third tight end behind Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen. It makes sense when you look at the long-term capital invested in the three. Still, Matt Nagy has been adamant he prefers three tight end formations and has roles for every tight end.

With that said, there is a question as to what the price would be for Sims. Let’s say the Jaguars do see Sims as their best bet at tight end and they are desperate. Sims has a strong preseason and the media is buzzing.

The Chicago Bears do have Daniel Brown and Ben Braunecker on the roster. Brown has a good chance to make the roster as another option who can line up in the slot and all over the field. Braunecker is a blocker, who could be classified as a poor mans, Adam Shaheen.

With the versatility of the two, the team could survive in 13 personnel despite Dion Sims.

Still, the fact of the matter is that someone would have to really entice the Chicago Bears for Dion Sims. That just sounds crazy as it is, right? Sims is a nice player and fits a need for the Bears. There is no doubt that he would fill a need for the Jaguars too.

However, he is not valuable enough for the Jaguars to send serious capital to the Bears. At the same time, he is valuable enough to the Bears that they will not lend him out cheap.

Some sites are likely going to put it out there, however, unless a team really sends a strong asset in return, the Bears are likely to role with their three tight ends in order.
