The Chicago Bears have been a team that has been picking in the top ten for the last few seasons. With that, you acquire a few building blocks. Bleacher Report did a list highlighting the most promising building blocks on every team entering 2018. For the Chicago Bears, they chose Roquan Smith.
Smith is the youngest pick with the longest contract. It makes sense that he could be the top building block. The question is whether or not any of the other recent top ten picks are more worthwhile.
On the defensive side of the ball, give me Smith over Leonard Floyd. What Floyd does is more valuable. However, Smith provides leadership. He is going to be the play caller. The stalwart in the middle. The quarterback of the defense who keeps everything together.
Floyd has some injury issues and has not shown the elite ability to lead on a defense in his first two seasons on the team. Potentially with Roquan Smith taking a lot of the pressure as the highlighted top ten pick, Floyd can finally come into his own.

So, the true question comes down to whether Roquan Smith is promising than Mitchell Trubisky or not.
It is fair that the national publication would not appreciate the first season of Mitchell Trubisky. And while this is a pro-Roquan account, Trubisky still has more promise overall.
Roquan Smith can quarterback the defense. Mitchell Trubisky can quarterback the team. His upside is still completely untapped and will only start with what we are able to see this season.
Roquan Smith is learning the ropes and is going to take over as the play caller for Danny Trevathan. However, on the other side, Trubisky is proving that he is already able to take that step.
The Chicago Bears transformed their quarterback to one where Trubisky has full control. Trubisky has been showing leadership and has the offense and the defense bought into him.
It would be a great scenario to have figured out the impact building blocks on both sides of the ball. This could very easily be Roquan Smith and Mitchell Trubisky. However, as of now, Trubisky has more promise, and his success is more vital to the success of the team. Mitchell Trubisky is the Chicago Bears most promising building block.
