How would you rank the Chicago Bears 90-man roster heading into training camp?

Ranking 90-86  85-81  80-76 75-71 70-66

With the long wait between OTAs and training camp, it is a good chance to look into where the Chicago Bears roster stands. This series will be going into some of the top players on the roster and ranking them based on what type of impact they could have on the team.

As we get closer to the 53-man roster, we look at players 65-61.

65. Rashard Fant

Rashard Fant is going to be a UDFA to keep an eye on this summer. On the field, he is an excellent cornerback with NFL abilities. The reason he went undrafted was his size. Fant went to the combine and while he did not test, his physical traits show a player who will have a hard time finding his way into the NFL.

However, his tape gives him a great chance to come in and be competitive in the slot. He is a player who is not afraid to stick his head in there and defend the run. Fant is solid at open field tackling. He plays with an aggressive demeanor that shows bigger than his size.

Fant also shows this aggressiveness when breaking on the football. He is a smart player who can time his jumps well and can usually stick his hands in to make a play on the football.

Fant also shows the ability to blitz off the edge, something Bryce Callahan excels at.

Bryce Callahan is holding down the starting slot position, but he is signed to just a one-year contract currently. Cre’Von LeBlanc is the only true slot help behind him at the moment.

The team did not address slot until Fant. Fant’s weakness is quite known, but can translate to the slot in the right situation. It means that he could be ready to show up to camp and compete this season. While he may be a worth practice squad candidate, keep an eye on Rashard Fant and the potential growth he could have with the Chicago Bears in the slot.
