Five Chicago Bears to watch in preseason Week 2: Offense
James Daniels
This one should be about as obvious as Allen Robinson. The spotlight will be even brighter on Daniels than Robinson considering he is fighting for something. So far, all reports are that Daniels is fighting to move up the depth chart at guard. However, he has mainly only been taking snaps at center in practice over the last two weeks.
All signs are pointing to the idea that they want him to slot into center soon, but need to see him in a more prominent role or with more preseason snaps under his belt before making the change. Is Saturday the day that Daniels gives them the confidence to make the switch?
It feels as though this is what is on the line for Daniels. With the dress rehearsal in Week 3, he will essentially either lock in the idea that he has to be a center, or he will lock in the idea that he will be a reserve for Week One of the NFL season.
