With their fourth round pick, the Chicago Bears select TE Jake Butt

The Chicago Bears draft has gone a little differently at this point. Ryan Pace had his eye on a safety out of Alabama that suffered a broken leg, Eddie Jackson. He loves the kid but with the investment of Adams, he doesn’t think it makes a lot of sense to go back to the safety well. After all, the team has Adrian Amos who they hope can bounce back from a sophomore slump, but they also have Quintin Demps to help stabilize the other safety spot.

Pace knows the team needs a young tight end and his guy Adam Shaheen is long gone. He takes the next best tight available on the board right now, and that player is clearly Butt. Pace hopes that Butt becomes a nice safety valve for Glennon or Kizer.

The Bears also still have their third round pick after not trading up with the 49ers. They choose to trade down with the New Orleans Saints who aggressively target Alvin Kamara and they choose to select Shaquill Griffin out of Central Florida. At this point, the Bears aren’t certain what they have in Kyle Fuller and think that Griffin could be starting for them at CB by 2018.
