Matt Nagy should be the Coach of the Year in 2018, and he it should have been cemented with his win over the Minnesota Vikings

All season the coach of the year debate has been on. Frank Reich, Andy Reid, Pete Carroll and others have all receivers nominations. However, none have a resume to stand up to Matt Nagy. While some will see it as a meaningless victory, with the Bears making up no ground, Matt Nagy cemented himself as the coach of the year in 2018.

While the Bears had nothing to play for, they also did not want to play the Vikings in three straight weeks. Why not beat the team right then and there and eliminate a division rivals team in their own house?

That is what Matt Nagy did. Allen Robinson, Eddie Jackson, and Aaron Lynch all sat. Anthony Miller and Taylor Gabriel were banged up a bit, but neither sound serious. Neither returned to the field, ensuring they are much more likely to be active next week.

When the Chicago Bears were scoring to go up 20-10 late into the third quarter the team had Josh Bellamy, Kevin White and Javon Wims at wide receiver.

Still, against a revamped Vikings defense. A defense that was supposed to be a threat in the playoffs, Matt Nagy and his developing quarterback Mitch Trubisky shined bright and put a dagger of a drive into their rivals hearts.

Remember when fans were mad saying that Mitch Trubisky needed reps in Week three of the preseason? He got meaningless reps against a defense playing for its life in Week 17 and looked like a completely different quarterback than Week One, when Nagy received that criticism.

The only argument against Matt Nagy is that Vic Fangio calls the defense and the defense is better than the offense. However, the Bears do not go 12-4 without a potent offense. When considering the defense is better than the offense, a lot of the offensive success then has to go on Nagy.

The Chicago Bears are a well balanced team on both sides of the football. They have a laid back vibe to them as if they are never quite in danger. They can go on the road and knock out a team many deemed Super Bowl contenders despite little to play for themselves.

Matt Nagy is the head coach of the year and it is not close. We will see if he is able to win it.
