Are the Chicago Bears expecting anything from their rookie wide receiver in 2019?

When a player who is considered to be a second-round talent falls out of the draft as a UDFA, he is automatically leaning to having a stock down offseason. However, Hall landing with the Chicago Bears does give him upside in his career.

Of course, he will have to make the roster first. One of the issues with being a UDFA is that the team has no obligation to give you a chance to beat out players who they are more financially committed to.

So, when Hall missed most of OTAs with an offseason surgery his chances of making the roster reduced dramatically.  Kevin Toliver made the roster after falling to a UDFA despite talent deserving of being drafted.

However, Toliver had an excellent OTA session to a strong training camp performance as well. Hall is missing OTAs and may miss most of camp.

Add in that the Bears have plenty of depth on the roster, it may be a bad bet to predict him to make the roster. However, the Bears may have a plan to get around this.

With Hall going through surgery while signed with the Bears, they could look to put him on the IR before he steps on an NFL field. It will end his season but will ensure that he can come back and compete for a roster spot next season.

It could be in Halls best interest, as he can rehab with the team. Considering the timing of the surgery he could be healthy late into the season, and while he will not be able to practice, he will be soaking everything in as he is healthy next year. He has a chance to rise, but for now, his stock is tumbling.
