2. Dax Raymond fighting an uphill battle

Dax Raymond was regarded as one of the better UDFA rookies that the team found this offseason.      However, early into training camp, it appears as though Raymond has work ahead of him to ensure a practice squad spot, let alone make the roster.

Of course, a lot can change between then and now. Raymond is currently sitting as the number six tight end on the depth chart. That puts him behind Trey Burton, and Adam Shaheen, which is no surprise. However, Ben Braunecker, Bradley Sowell, and even UDFA Ian Bunting is listed as the number five tight end.

This may not be a huge surprise, as one thing we have written is that Nagy looks at tight ends roles more than depth chart slots. Bunting stands at 6’7″ and is a basketball type body. His role would be closer to Adam Shaheen, where Raymond is a lesser blocker who can move with the ball in his hands. Raymond is closer to a Burton backup. With Burton healthier than Shaheen, Bunting may be needed more than Raymond. Of course, a lot will change.
