4. Ryan Nall
Ryan Nall is a player who should succeed in the preseason. However, what was noted about the start to his second NFL season was less about what he did as a runner and more about what he did as a pass-catcher. Nall caught four passes and looked clean in space moving around.
The path for Nall to make the roster has always been versatility. In a league where fullback is devalued, he can at least motion into the spot if needed. On top of that, he can motion to tight end and move around as a ‘U’ type of player.
This is where the pass-catching becomes valuable. As we mentioned with Bunting, the depth chart is thin behind Burton and Shaheen who have injuries of their own. There are open roster spots.
Blocking and pass-catching will continue to leave the door open for Ryan Nall to try to slip on the roster. We will see if can build on those two areas in week two.
