Fits the City

Newton’s personality and flare fit Chicago. He’s flashy, a gritty quarterback and a respected locker room leader. Chicago needs an offensive leader that is well respected by their defensive leaders. Someone who is an iron man and will fight for every inch. Newton’s presence exudes that.

Peep Newton’s press conferences. His authenticity is something that would be embraced in the city of Chicago. It’s very reminiscent of the authentic personalities of the beloved ‘85 Bears. Then you had Sweetness, The Fridge, Danimal and others who comprised of the Bears Shuffling Crew.

Do not be confused with the personality of Jay Cutler. Cutler had an “I do not care attitude”. He did not have a positive attitude with anyone. He played the game like it did not matter. When you think about a child who just loves to play the game because it is fun, that is the opposite of the feeling you would get with Cutler. Cutler seemed to treat it like a job he did not like.

Newton’s swagger would fill a void needed for an offense that hasn’t found their identity in 2019. Newton would be perfect for the media. Chicago has long needed a personality at quarterback. Newton would definitely be the best quarterback personality in this market since Jim McMahon. As Newton says, he has that “drip.”
