5 reasons Week 10 win did not turn Chicago Bears season around
The situation
As I mentioned, when you consider the opponent and situation a lot of the glee from this win can turn to concern. The Bears were expected to have a better offensive impact in this game, considering how bad the Lions defense was. In fact, Chicago was favored with Matt Stafford healthy.
Without Stafford, the Bears were expected to win by a touchdown. They did just as they were expected to do, nothing more or less. Early into the game they trailed 6-0 to a Jeff Driskel led team with a poor defense.
When they led 20-6, they could not put the game away. They took sacks, stalled on offense and gave up a huge pass to make it a touchdown game.
On top of that Driskel had a chance to tie it at the end, and it was starting to look possible. A win is a win is a win. Nonetheless, it is hard to look at this win and say that more are coming.
The Bears play a Rams team on Sunday that is struggling in their own regard. A win there can turn fans excitment up another level. Still, the Rams are not even currently a playoff team. This team has a lot of ground to make up, and at this point, they are not looking like they have what it takes to make it up.
There are positives to take away from this game, that is for sure. However, fans need to remain level-headed and not get too excited about a less than impressive performance against a team that is down and out.
