Mitch Trubisky may not be an elite NFL starter, but he has torched Matt Patricia every chance he has gotten

We do not know what the future holds for Mitch Trubisky as an NFL starter or with the Chicago Bears. There is one thing we know, though, he owns Matt Patricia.

The win on Thursday has moved Trubisky to 3-0 against the Lions with a Matt Patricia coached defense. Over that span of games Trubisky is 68-91 a 74% passer. He has nine touchdowns and one interception. That comes with 866 yards, 9.5 yards per attempt.

Compared to his career numbers that is 5% higher in completion rate, a 6% increase in TD rate, 1.5% decrease in INT rate, and 2.8 increase in yards per attempt.

I do not have to extrapolate the small three game sample out. If all Trubisky did was face the Lions led by Patricia, he would be the MVP.

Unfortunately, the NFL has more parity than that. Still, whatever it is about the Lions, Trubisky has found ways to dominate them.

There likely is not much to takeaway from it, and there is no way that Bears fans can watch this game and think that Trubisky has solved everything or is ready to take the next step. This is arguably the worst version of the Patricia defense and Trubisky had his issues as well. The third down run that he could have converted and an interception in plus territory come straight to mind.

However, in a rivalry against the Lions, you have a lot of ammo to rub it in. We know that Trubisky is not great. Still, he dominates Matt Patricia. He is supposedly a defensive wizard. Is Matt Nagy a bad coach? Who knows, he sure takes a lot of heat for his offensive calls. Still, his offense torches Patricia consistently and we know Patricia is doing the play calling as well. Is Patricia a good defensive coach? I mean, he cannot stop Trubisky in three tries. You tell me.

They are going to keep that guy as head coach. Have fun with that Lions fans.
