5 Chicago Bears players who should be shut down for the year
Taylor Gabriel
Gabriel has not played in almost a month. It is fair to question whether he has played his last game in Chicag. With two games left, it would be a surprise to see Gabriel suit up this season. On top of that, the Bears will save over $4 million by letting him go this offseason.
The team should be incentivized to let him walk. On the other hand, Gabriel should be understanding that he can get healthy and hit the market in a few months.
The Bears will want to take a long look at Javon Wims and Riley Ridley. Wims is banged up with a leg injury and may not play much either. That only opens the door for Ridley, though.
Ridley has struggled to date, running the wrong routes, and having issues blocking. There is a lot the Bears need to see out of Ridley in the next two weeks.
The good news is that he should get those opportunities. Ridley needs to grow and learn how to develop as a player, and nothing will let that happen other than actual snaps on an NFL field.
There is no reason to see Gabriel and every reason to see Ridley. With just two games to go, that may be the last of Taylor Gabriel we have seen.
