Pick No. 50

With the second pick the Chicago Bears have in the second round, the mock draft has Ryan Pace selecting competition and a possible replacement for Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky did not have a good 2019 season. Matt Nagy made it known that Trubisky needs to work on his ability to read defenses and not be fooled by masked coverages. Not a good thing to hear about your starting quarterback even if Nagy covered it up by saying he is very close.

Now, I am a Trubisky supporter and I want to believe that Nagy is not lying about how close Trubisky is at mastering reading coverages. The best thing for the Bears would be for Trubisky to figure things out and excel in 2020.

That said, Ryan Pace needs to address the quarterback position. The team is about to lose their second and third-string quarterbacks. Bringing back Tyler Bray as the third option makes no sense. Is Chase Daniel really the answer as the backup? I could see the Bears bringing in a free agent and drafting a quarterback this offseason. This mock draft must agree with me about the draft as they have Pace selecting Jake Fromm at No. 50.

Pace seems to love Georgia products as he has drafted Leonard Floyd, Roquan Smith and Riley Ridley since becoming the general manager for the Bears. Fromm is one of the better quarterback prospects in the 2020 NFL draft. It will be interesting to see how his draft value fluctuates between now and April. Last year he was projected to be the second-best quarterback prospect. Now, he is more like the fifth and thus why he will likely drop into the second round.

Fromm is one quarterback I would be excited to see Ryan Pace draft, but I think the team should address the offensive line and tight end in the second round before drafting another quarterback. As a Trubisky supporter, I am more interested in the team taking a quarterback late. Names like Anthony Gordon and Shea Patterson are two guys I would like to see the Chicago Bears add late instead.

Next. Could Cole McDonald be the next Bears quarterback?. dark

What do you think about this mock draft? Are you in favor of the two players that were selected? Who would you rather have seen the Bears take at No. 43 or No. 50 if you disagree with Bryant and Fromm? Let us know in the comments.
