P.J. Walker – Quarterback

The Chicago Bears and Ryan Pace should not hesitate in bringing in P.J. Walker after the XFL season ends this season. Walker has looked phenomenal this season in the XFL. He has been extending plays with his legs, throwing balls at different angles and hitting open receivers deep downfield.

His game looks to be the perfect fit in Matt Nagy’s system too. Walker has been the Patrick Mahomes of the XFL thus far this season. In three games, he has thrown for 748 yards, 10 touchdowns and only one interception. He has also rushed for 87 yards and scored a rushing touchdown.

What I love about watching Walker is his ability to read coverages and adjust when needed. He consistently hits his second or third option. Something many Mitchell Trubisky detractors bring up when bashing the Bears current starting quarterback.

Bringing in Walker does not guarantee he would make the team. This move should also not stop Pace from signing a veteran backup and drafting a future quarterback who could take over if Trubisky falls on his face once again in 2020. That said, maybe Walker’s game does translate to the NFL. Maybe Pace gets lucky and catches lightning in a bottle. The move would be low-risk and high-reward. Imagine the story if he was able to secure the starting spot in Chicago too.

That might be a pipe dream, and again not the only move Pace should make, but the other player who has been dominating his position in the NFL could have an even better opportunity here in Chicago than Walker would.
