Tarik Cohen is on his last year before heading to free agency. He has been a pleasure to watch and great with the fans. That said, he plays an expendable position. The team can add a running back late in the 2020 NFL Draft or even find one as an undrafted free agent after the draft. Giving up Cohen to land Jamal Adams sounds sad, but it is definitely worth it.

Adams racked up 61 solo tackles and 75 combined in 2019. He only played 14 games last season due to an ankle injury. The year before, he finished with 86 solo tackles. He is arguably one of the best safeties in the NFL and plays better as a strong safety opposed to a free safety. What is very impressive is how Adams had 6.5 sacks last year. Chuck Pagano likes to blitz with his defensive backs at times and Adams is terrific at it. This would be a great pairing so let us make it happen.

The Jets should be happy with the acquisition of Tarik Cohen. He would make a strong compliment to Le’Veon Bell in the backfield. He would be a solid offensive weapon for Sam Darnold too. We all know what Cohen can do and I would hate to see him go, but we are talking about adding a superstar to the roster. Cohen is not a superstar.

To sweeten the deal, the Bears will give the Jets their second-round pick. This will be the 50th overall pick and fans will not be happy, but this is the only way to make the deal happen. The Bears will only owe Adams a few million dollars for 2020 and can work on extending him during the quarantine or regular season.
