Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

This one-year player still makes Ryan Pace’s top-five list. He was brought in on a one-year, $3.5 million dollar deal last season. Even though Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Eddie Jackson did not gel together as one would have liked, both had solid seasons.

Eddie Jackson did not live up to the expectations us fans have given him based on his prior seasons. He only ended up with two interceptions after a six interceptions-season the year before.  Between his rookie season in 2017 and his breakout season in 2018, Jackson recorded eight interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. On top of it all, he has scored five touchdowns during those two seasons as well.

Clinton-Dix also had two interceptions in 2019. He returned one for a touchdown. During his one season in Chicago, Clinton-Dix also recorded 78 tackles (62 solos) and two fumble recoveries. He was not great here with the Chicago Bears, but he was also not bad either. I was surprised that he signed another one-year deal this offseason. I thought for sure he would have seen a multi-year deal with a bigger payday. Instead, he signed a one-year, $4 million dollar deal with the Cowboys.

Had Jackson and Clinton-Dix played better as a tandem, Clinton-Dix may still be around in Chicago. Many believe that Jackson was playing out of position for the majority of 2019. It will be interesting to see if the Chicago Bears can find a true, in-the-box strong safety to pair with Jackson in 2020. Will that bring him back to his 2018 form? Only time will tell.
