Chicago Bears: My Mitchell Trubisky excuses and quarterback thoughts

The Chicago Bears end game, maybe.

I don’t ever expect Mitch Trubisky to become better than Watson or Mahomes, but he should be in a class ahead of the Darnolds, Mayfields, and Winstons. Mitch Trubisky is better than Blake Bortles, but at times he doesn’t act like it.

The quarterback competition is what it is. I am a fan of Foles and Trubisky. Hopefully, Mason Fine becomes QB3 for this team. With Nick Foles having that “touchdown to check down” mentality already in him that Matt Nagy looks for. Foles has the upper hand.

Foles, John DeFillippo, and the other coaches should be able to better set Trubisky up for success. Maybe it is too late, and Trubisky is already broken from a previous lousy coach. The Chicago Bears will have to move on when Jeff Christenson (QB specialist) talked about changing mechanics on Trubisky, that sent up all sorts of red flags. I don’t expect Nagy to fix that. Nagy is the head coach and needs to focus on the entire offense, but Dave Ragone, man, you failed your quarterback.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if they move on from Mitch Trubisky if Nick Foles is the answer. I just want the best quarterback for the team. No matter what happens, if either quarterback shows they are capable, the Chicago Bears will have to make an interesting money decision. The best-case scenario is Nick Foles wins the job and takes the team far into the playoffs. Foles stays healthy and shows the league that the Eagles made the wrong decision.

On top of that, Foles keeps his current contract for another season to help the team get him more weapons or retain their own. And Mason Fine truly becomes that developmental guy that learns under Foles until Foles is ready to hang up his cleats. That is wishful thinking at best.
