A shining light of the Chicago Bears defense

Jaylon Johnson, at times, looked like a rookie but played at a much better level than is draft mate on the opposing team (Jeff Okudah), who has not cracked the starting lineup just yet.  According to Pro-Football-Reference, Johnson had five solo tackles, and two passes defended. Speaking of the defensive backs, Jackson, Kyle Fuller, and Buster Skrine did a solid job to defend for as long as they could with having a limited pass rush in front of them.

The Chicago Bears fan base can give the team a pass as many defenses looked slow this past weekend. However, that whole elite defense comment needs to find its way to teams that deserve the praise. There were some interesting packages played on defense. The traditional 3-4 base defense was barely used against the Lions. A lot of 4-2-5 nickel packages were used along with the occasional 5-1-5 that Pagano used last season.

Maybe the Detriot Lions are that talented with Matthew Stafford at the helm. Over 300 total yards from him is unacceptable, though. Luckily the Bears didn’t have to face Kenny Golladay this week because who knows the outcome?  Not all negative was on the defensive side of the football.

The Chicago Bears offense did its best job to recreate week one against the Green Bay Packers by failing to find the endzone in the first half or converting many first downs. The Chicago Bears got the win; that is all that matters. Cheers to better defensive play this upcoming weekend.
