Work with what you got

At this point, the Bears could just hold an in-house competition for this spot. They have a bunch of guys who could be given a chance to earn the job and this competition could bring out the best in any of them.

For starters, Alex Bars would likely get the job. Bars was a highly-coveted prospect coming out of Notre Dame until he tore his ACL and MCL his senior season after only five games. This led to him not being drafted in which the Bears scooped him up as an undrafted free agent. Bars got rocked early on in the game in place of Daniels, but he played very solid after that against a combo of Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea.

Besides Bars, the Bears have Coward who started 10 games last season at right guard for Kyle Long. He played pretty horribly, so unless a massive improvement happened, I would not like to see him. They also have a rookie seventh-round pick, Arlington Hambright, out of Colorado. He’s likely not ready as he hasn’t touched the field with no preseason.

Bars is likely the best option of these guys, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they also brought somebody in.
