Chicago Bears: 3 Potential trade targets with the Atlanta Falcons
By Cody Young
Offensive guard is something that the Bears need to address
James Carpenter
This is by no means a franchise-altering trade but James Carpenter is certainly an upgrade over what the Chicago Bears currently have at guard. The injury to James Daniels has left the team with a major hole at the position.
Daniels suffered a pectoral injury during their week five win against Tampa Bay. It’s a shame because he was having a great season and was probably their best lineman all year up to that point.
The Bears have tried using Alex Bars and Rashaad Coward as replacements for Daniels and neither one has looked promising. Coward in particular has been awful dating back to last season where he received a lot of playing time.
Carpenter is a veteran guard who was drafted in the first round of the 2011 draft by the Seahawks. He spent four years with the team before going to the New York Jets for another four years.
Now in his 10th year in the NFL, James Carpenter finds himself on an underachieving Falcons team. Again, I don’t think Carpenter is a game-changer by any means but I think he is someone who Chicago can buy low on and bring some stability to a position that needs it right now.
