The Chicago Bears must continue to rally together to remain in the hunt

Now that the Chicago Bears opened back up through their surprising start, teams are trying to figure them out before they get a chance to.

The public shaming of the Bears taking Trubisky over the likes of Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes caused unrest for the future. Slowly but surely media speculation caught on to the wind of this team in Chicago. With so much going left, it’s hard to find where to place the blame.

The Matt Nagy era has been fixed with high moments combining with a very low floor. Nagy play-calling has remained a topic of discussion through the pitfall. A speculated quarterback change came and this team still managed to roll out a 5-1 start. The momentum-swinging QB change is slowing down now as the Bears lost three of their last five games.

It all came crashing down on Monday Night versus the Los Angeles Rams. The offense only managed to put up three points. The Bears only score came from a defensive touchdown by Eddie Jackson. Matt Nagy’s play call was questionable, as it has appeared for some time. This is the second year in a row where the Chicago Bears offensive stats are near the bottom across the league.

Accountability 101

It seems as if the Bears offense is coming out every week looking for something that isn’t there. Every week feels like week one all over. It’s like watching a unit skipping over baby steps while in the baby steps phase. As individuals, several members of this offensive units show resilience. Together, lack of discipline is having its way with the team.

This Chicago Bears team is the most penalized group out of the entire NFL. Getting on the right foot might appear far fetched for right now with all that’s transpired through eight games. Although the offense is struggling, the penalties aren’t helping the Bears situation.

Javon Wims took it upon himself to throw punches at Chauncey Gardner-Johnson after he claimed that CGJ spits on him as he snatched at Wims mouthpiece. He received a two-game suspension without pay. The incident appeared provoked from the jump, with him coming across the field to lash the way he did.

The Bears face the Titans before the bye week and they absolutely cannot head into the bye with three straight losses. Nagy must rally his guys immediately. Adjustments have to be made across the board. Right now, Barkevious Mango and Dwayne Harris are just a couple of adjustments made for the team. Nagy and company need to find out what is it that this offense is trying to do. As a collective, the Bears are looking stuck sitting at 5-3.

Pick a side and stay there

Before this season slips away, the Chicago Bears need to find out if they want to compete or just roll over. They are already in too deep to tank, and they are still in the hunt to contend for the playoffs. Teams like the Saints and the Rams aren’t an easy tossup. They lost against both teams. Nearing the bye week, crucial decisions must be made, or this team is looking another wasted year right in the face.
