Nico Collins, WR, Michigan

Height: 6′ 4″ | Weight: 215 | Age: Sr.

Projected: Round 2-3

As this class is loaded with talent, wide receiver Nico Collins finds himself on the short-end of the stick in terms of talented wide receivers. Collins has the size, hands, and athletic ability to be a top wide receiver, but has been held back by Michigan’s conservative offense and poor quarterback play.

With his size, Collins is a big and powerful wide receiver who shows impressive catch radius and contested-catch ability. He’s very good at attacking jump balls in the air and winning the 50/50 balls. He would also give the Bears an additional red zone threat as that is where he feasts.

On top of his size, Collins shows surprising speed and burst on the outside. He has never put up massive numbers in college thanks to his system and quarterback, but he still has put up impressive numbers for his limited targets. In 2019, Collins caught 37 passes for 729 yards (19.7 yards per reception) and seven touchdowns. He opted out of the 2020 season which will keep his stock lower.

If you see a common trend among these players, each of these wideouts (outside of Waddle) are big, possession wide receivers. The Bears need more of this on their roster as they only truly have two of those on their roster and one of them is Javon Wims who seems to be more interested in boxing than football. The other is Robinson who may not be here next season. They need to address this type of wide receiver.
