The Chicago Bears need to draft a quarterback early

It shouldn’t be a question if the Bears should draft a quarterback. The Bears need to draft one of the current top six quarterbacks early in the draft. I additionally wouldn’t be opposed to them drafting any of the remaining quarterbacks after the fourth round to add even more depth.

Obviously, the Bears will not have a shot at Trevor Lawerence and likely won’t have a chance for Justin Fields as well, but the other four quarterbacks are all easily attainable for them. Zach Wilson continues to shoot up draft boards with his Patrick Mahomes-Esque playstyle and unbelievable stat line, so they may not even have a shot at him, but they should do everything they can to get him.

After Wilson, the Bears could also draft project quarterback Trey Lance who led North Dakota State University to a national title as a redshirt freshman. He didn’t put up any gaudy numbers by any means, but his efficiency and ability to protect the football was unbelievable. He did not throw a single interception. Additionally, he is a great athlete as he ran for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns.

After those two quarterbacks, there is a tier break for the next two SEC quarterbacks: Mac Jones and Kyle Trask. These guys are very different quarterbacks as Jones is very polished with no real elite traits, but he has an extremely high floor. On the other hand, Trask is a prototypical quarterback with great vision and feel for the pocket. He could be a project to study behind Foles.

The Bears need to draft one of these guys either in the first, second, or third rounds as no one truly knows draft projections yet. They need a guy to take over for Foles for the future.
