Bears should go offensive tackle or trade back for another quarterback

If both Lance and Wilson are gone in the first round before the Bears pick, the Bears should absolutely not reach for either Kyle Trask or Mac Jones. The Bears should cut their losses and draft a left tackle to take over for Leno. Both Trask and Jones don’t have the high ceilings that should garner them a first-round pick at least at their draft position.

If the Bears really want Trask or Jones, they should trade back and gain more picks and take one of those two near the end of the first round. Then, the Bears should bring back Trubisky to be the bridge before the rookie is ready to take over much like how the Chiefs treated the Mahomes.

If they are okay with taking an offensive tackle, they should sit and try to get Christian Darrisaw, Liam Eichenberg, or Samuel Cosmi as just a few options. Then in the second round, if Jones or Trask falls to them, perfect, select them and you look like a genius. If not, then that’s fine as well. They should then gauge where their next biggest need is whether that is wide receiver if Allen Robinson walks or offensive tackle if both Massie and Leno are gone.

They should still draft a quarterback regardless of whether that is the first round or the fifth round. Any quarterback could turn into the next Dak Prescott or even just a serviceable quarterback in Gardner Minshew or sometimes even Tom Brady. They should take their shot this year.
