3. Cody Whitehair

The move of Sam Mustipher to center has impacted one player more than others, and that is Cody Whitehair. The move pushed Whitehair out of center and into left guard. If you remember, while Whitehair has held down center for years, the Bears have also been trying to move his position for years.

Whitehair has always been better at guard, and has always started at center because nobody else could. Finally, Whitehair may have a partner.

To put it bluntly, this was shaping up to be the worst year of Whitehair’s career. He was banged up and playing his worst football by far.

After getting a bye week and moving positions, the last month has been his best of 2020 and some of his best career ball. Whitehair is a road grader in the run game and reliable in the pass. It almost is like you can see the stress of playing center is off of his shoulders, and he is now playing lighter.

Finding Mustipher was huge, but mainly because it has unleashed Cody Whitehair at guard.
