Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Bears run it back with Nick Foles
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears take a chance with a developmental quarterback
One thing to remember if the Bears go into the draft without having added a quarterback: they are going to add one eventually over draft weekend. Whether it’s early or later on, the Bears will add a rookie if they have not added a veteran at this point.

Even if they are planning on Foles starting the year for them, the Bears will need to address the position at some point. This pick acquired from the Bills will help them do just that.
Jamie Newman came to Georgia after spending three years at Wake Forest but then chose to opt-out of the 2020 season to prepare for the draft.
In 2019, Newman’s only full season as a starter, he threw for 2,868 yards, 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions on 60.9 percent passing. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who can pick up yardage with his feet (574 yards, six touchdowns in 2019) but needs some development as a passer overall.
Newman thrives in an offense that gives him designed instances to run and he does so with great strength. He’s not just athletic, but he’s a force. In the passing game, he has some work to do in all major categories whether it’s working through progressions, decision-making or overall vision. But, he’s got the skillset to become a viable starter in this league, eventually.
It’s going to take Newman a year or so before he’s ready to take on the challenge of starting in the NFL, but he is one of the better mid-round prospects to choose from.
