Chicago Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: Throw quarterback out the window
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears find an offensive tackle in the second round
In the second round, the Bears attack the offensive line. Now, last year, the line did come together well down the stretch. But, that was mostly on the interior. David Montgomery found plenty of running lanes with the help of Sam Mustipher and Cody Whitehair especially making an impact. Alex Bars also played very well.

The Bears made the choice to decline Bobby Massie’s option, leaving a space on the right side. The team did re-sign versatile lineman Germain Ifedi, who can play both guard and tackle. Chicago also added veteran Elijah Wilkinson who could compete at right tackle.
However, they don’t necessarily have a sure-fire starter to replace Massie. With pick 52, this is where the Bears find just that in Clemson’s Jackson Carman.
For the majority of his time with the Tigers, Carman protected this year’s consensus number one pick, Trevor Lawrence.
Carman is a 6-foot-5 giant with great size and power. He really thrives in the run game, where his strength goes on full display. The only question mark with Carman is his ability to handle speed rushers. Some outlets see Carman as a guard when he makes the jump to the NFL, but if he can improve his foot speed just a bit, he may end up panning out at tackle.
Regardless, Carman is a definite second-round talent and the Bears could use his potential versatility. They need to continue to work on the line, without a doubt.
