Chicago Bears: Round 6, Pick No. 221

Two quarterbacks in one draft? It may seem a bit unrealistic, but there are a few reasons behind this move.

Pace has only drafted one quarterback since becoming the general manager of the Chicago Bears. His current quarterback room is Andy Dalton and Nick Foles. Last year, he retained 28-year-old Tyler Bray. It’s safe to say the Bears’ quarterback room could use some youth.

It’s also ridiculous that the Bears refuse to address the most important position in the NFL every year. Book at best is a solid backup in this league, but the Bears have scouted him and clearly see some upside in his game. He’s a piece that can be developed without pressure to start.

The Bears take an athletic receiver with some upside with their last pick to round up their 2021 rookie class.

Darby is a tough receiver who battles for every ball and against every cornerback but struggled to stay healthy in college. He traces the ball well and. battles for every pass. Darby is an intelligent receiver who can compete on this Bears’ roster for an active spot, and at the very least be a nice and cheap project piece for the Bears in the long haul.
