Chicago Bears Round 6, Pick No. 221
A force at middle linebacker the past two seasons, K.J. Britt could be a steal in the later rounds of the NFL Draft. He is your traditional run-stopping middle linebacker that loves to hit and fill gaps. He has outstanding instincts when it comes to diagnosing the play, but he does struggle on pass plays in coverage. He’s the type of hitter that you can hear the pop when he tackles someone.
With Roquan Smith starting at one linebacker position, Danny Trevathan struggled alongside him last season. The Bears added solid depth in Christian Jones to back them up, but the Bears need someone young who can eventually take over for the aging Trevathan. Additionally, Smith isn’t great at stopping the run, so Britt can fill that role as a two-down linebacker.
Chicago Bears Round 6, Pick No. 228
Zach Davidson may be the coolest story in the draft as he was a dual-threat player for Central Missouri as a tight end and a punter averaging over 40 yards per punt. However, Davidson is being recruited for his tight end abilities as the tall, lanky tight end posted impressive numbers at the Division 2 level catching 15 touchdowns in 2019 on only 40 receptions and averaging over 20 yards per reception.
Davidson could be a prime candidate to take over for Jimmy Graham as the ‘U’ tight end when he eventually moves on from Chicago. His receiving ability is very intriguing. Although he is a raw prospect, he is worth the late-round flier. He does give Bears’ fans some fright since the last Division 2 tight end was Adam Shaheen, but Davidson won’t cost a second-round pick as he did.
