Any QB outside of the top 5

This is for Kyle Trask, Kellen Mond, or Davis Mills. You only hear It faintly and every so often, but everyone once in a while it gets floated that team should jump into the back of round one for a quarterback. With these as the options, it does not get much riskier.

When you are talking about no doubt first-round picks, there is at least buzz that they could go high. Players such as Lamar Jackson fell, but that is a Heisman-winning superstar quarterback from college.

Trask put up stats, but Florida had a lot more NFL talent than Jackson. Trask does not bring mobility and a strong arm either. He could very well be this year’s Mason Rudolph, who got the first-round buzz before falling into round three. Mills has started for about one full season. He is a developmental quarterback. You can love his upside. Still, round two is a reach. Round one is betting it all on a quarterback because of his school rating and a few throws against Pac-12 defenses.

Kellen Mond is the most experienced but that holds him back as well. We have seen the good, but just as much bad is out there. People point to his experience in an NFL offense with Jimbo Fisher, and that is the same offense that got EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder over-drafted.

Mond is athletic but is not a better prospect than Dak Prescott, who went round four, or Jalen Hurts, who went round two. If they took Mond where those QBs get drafted, it is a different discussion than if you take them at pick 20.

One OT for every round. dark. Next

If the Chicago Bears are dead set on a first-round quarterback it has to be one of the big five. The sixth quarterback going in the first round to the Chicago Bears sounds like a disaster. If Pace misses on the big five, he has to wait.
