Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Richard Sherman, Cornerback, SF

Somehow, Richard Sherman is still a free agent right now. The elite cornerback has been dominating the NFL for years now and is on the market. Although he is 33, Sherman still has gas left in the tank as he played solid last season in a limited fashion as he only played in five games. He was elite in 2019 though, his last nearly full season played.

Sherman was part of the Legion of Boom in Seattle that was nearly impossible to do anything offensively against. He then tore his Achilles leading to the Seahawks moving on from him. Many questioned that he could still play at a high level given the injury at age 30, but he proved them wrong.

Sherman earned himself a Pro Bowl nod in 2019, helping the San Francisco 49ers reach a Super Bowl. As a zone corner, Sherman allowed a fairly high completion percentage, but only allowed one touchdown and racked up three interceptions. He only allowed one touchdown in 2018 as well.

Sherman would start immediately alongside Jaylon Johnson. He can still ball and he is a short-term solution to the Bears cornerback issues stated on the first page when discussing Steven Nelson. At the right price, he is a bargain.
