The Chicago Bears could regret cutting Marqui Christian this year
After the Bears saw veteran safety Marqui Christian get signed off their practice squad to the New York Jets last year, they brought him back later on when he was waived. Christian could actually be a part of this safety group going forward into future years.

I would venture to guess that this will be the last 1-year deal both Deon Bush and DeAndre Houston-Carson will sign with the Bears. Both of those guys are good enough to play elsewhere, and may even push for a starting spot depending on the team. The Bears have to start thinking about long-term depth at the safety position, and Christian might be a solid candidate.
He is still just 26 years old and saw some action back when he played with the Los Angeles Rams. Christian plays the strong safety position but can be subbed in as a versatile defensive back in certain packages.
The former Midwestern State standout is a solid tackler and would give the Bears adequate depth at the safety position going forward. At one point last year, some even thought Christian could end up starting opposite Eddie Jackson. He’s talented enough to warrant a spot on an NFL roster but hasn’t been given a real chance since his stint with the Rams.
If he goes on to sign elsewhere, and Tashaun Gipson finds a new home in 2022, the Bears could be in a tough spot here. With Jackson as maybe the only safety on the roster next spring, the Bears will be in the midst of a huge overhaul.
