Predicting the Chicago Bears 53-man roster: Wide Receivers

As previously mentioned, the Chicago Bears have shaken up their wide receiver room as they traded Anthony Miller to the Houston Texans. This opens the door for at least one player on the team to make the final roster since prior to the trade, Miller was easily making the team.

This position group looks decent on paper, but I am on record of wanting to see Miller play with Andy Dalton and/or Justin Fields. I understand he had brain lapses at times, but he also looked elite at times too. Could a different quarterback have helped his game? Honestly, I have my doubts, but the return in value they are likely to receive (details of the late-round draft pick swap have not been made public yet) is probably very minimal.

With Miller now gone, the team will have to determine who falls in line behind Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney. Mooney came on strong last season and is another reason Ryan Pace probably felt comfortable moving on from Miller. I had Damiere Byrd as the guy to push Miller this year as the third option in this offense. Now, he is a lock to make the team. I have the Chicago Bears once again keeping six receivers. Even with Miller staying, expect to say goodbye to Javon Wims.

As of now, the Chicago Bears will be keeping six wide receivers on the roster.

  • Allen Robinson
  • Darnell Mooney
  • Damiere Byrd
