Watching Justin Fields play for the Chicago Bears yesterday in his first NFL career start was very underwhelming, to say the least. The Chicago Bears offense was non-existent as the team total for yards gained was 47. Yes, you read the correctly, the Bears gained 47 total yards on offense on Sunday.

Seeing Justin Fields sacked nine times was difficult. The Bears were lucky enough to have Fields walk off the field under his own power with the beating he was taking — mostly from Myles Garrett who set a single-game franchise record with 4.5 sacks.

Matt Nagy did Justin Fields dirty in this one. With 30 dropbacks, Nagy did very little to help offset the Browns ferocious pass rush. The team only rolled Fields out twice and they only used max protection twice. This is ridiculous and there was literally zero in-game adapting by Nagy to make changes — not even at halftime.

Bears vs Lions Odds Week 4

The Week 4 betting odds on WynnBET have the Bears as slight favorites in this one. The spread is similar to the Browns versus Bengals game in Week 2. The Chicago Bears have a -3.0 spread in their favor, but that’s a gift given by most sportsbooks just for being the home team. This is essentially a pick-em game.

The Lions are winless at this point but should have beaten the Ravens last week. An NFL-record 66-yard field goal sealed the win for the Ravens. That alone makes me think that the Chicago Bears are on their way to being the worst team in the NFC North by the end of Week 4. We have to remember, the Lions are still the Lions though.

WynnBET has the Chicago Moneyline set at -150 (bet $150 to win $100).  The Browns on the other hand are set at +130 (bet $100 to win $130). The total for the game is set at an over/under of 42.5 points.

Bears vs Lions Prediction Week 4

I am not even going to talk about this game much. The Chicago Bears offense cannot score on anyone at this point and until they prove otherwise, no one should be betting on them to win another game.

Looking at the matchup, the Chicago Bears’ defense will be the best overall unit on the field. The team is ninth in DVOA after three weeks. They are 11h versus the run and ninth versus the pass despite their horrific performance Week 1 versus the Rams.

The problem is, if Matt Nagy and whoever is starting at quarterback cannot get things moving, Chicago will be lucky enough to score 13 points. I am being an optimist here giving the Bears offense one touchdown in this one.

The Lions’ defense is actually the worst in the league. Therefore, I do believe that the offense will not have to do much in this one and the team can still win. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I am going against my own better judgment and choosing Chicago to win and cover in a very low-scoring game.
