Last week was rough. I honestly thought that Justin Fields could overcome Matt Nagy’s offense. Unfortunately, it seems not even a top quarterback prospect like Fields can succeed in this scheme. The Chicago Bears better hope that Nagy is handing the play-calling off this week, or we may see a winless Lions team defeat our beloved Bears.

All week we have heard about some “good, tough conversations” that took place and how “everything is on the table” again. Did Matt Nagy not learn his lesson last year when these same things were being said? The press conference he had was filled with nothing but word salad and nonsense like the starting quarterback will be a game-time decision.

Not naming a quarterback might make a difference if Matt Nagy was able to adjust his scheme to his quarterback’s skill sets, but we all know that is not possible. We have seen the same play calls for the last four years and the majority of them do not work or are used during inopportune times.

Now, Justin Fields is not blameless. He left some plays on the field too, but between Matt Nagy’s incompetence and the offensive line’s struggles, Matt Nagy deserves the brunt of everything.

The good news is, the Chicago Bears face the Lions this week — a perfect team to right the ship. They cannot be overlooked though, this team isn’t good, but they are playing tough.

Bears Injury Report vs Lions Week 4

Tashaun Gipson is likely out again this week as he has not been able to practice all week and is listed as doubtful. This means we should see Deon Bush line up next to Eddie Jackson. Bush played fairly well last week and should be fine again versus a below-average Lions wide receiver group.

Andy Dalton was limited in practice all week but was recently ruled out for the game today. This means Justin Fields will get his second start while Dalton continues to heal his bone bruised knee. Linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe is OUT with a hamstring injury — this could be a bit of a blow to the special teams. Finally, Khalil Mack (foot), Darnell Mooney (groin) and Xavier Crawford (back) are all questionable.

On the Lions side of things, Trey Flowers is OUT and Michael Brockers (shoulder), Romeo Okwara (shoulder) and D’Andre Swift (groin) are all questionable.

Bears vs Lions Odds, Spread, Over/Under, & Betting Pick Week 4

WynnBET’s Week 4 NFL odds have the Bears as slight favorites in this one. The spread has stayed the same since the beginning of the week at -3.0. The Moneyline has stayed the same too at -150 (bet $150 to win $100). The only thing that has changed since the beginning of the week is the over/under. It opened at 42.5, but it now dropped to 41.5. Probably the right call by the sportsbook.

I have struggled to pick these games correctly. My Chicago Bears bias has clearly bled through. That said, I still think the Bears find a way to win this one. Baltimore barely beat the Lions last week — took an NFL record 66-yard field goal by Justin Tucker. However, there were some drops by Marquise Brown that would have blown the game wide open for the Ravens.

I also think it will be close though. Most likely a push or a Lions cover as the Bears win by three or less points.

Bears Next Game and Schedule

Chicago is desperate for a win this weekend. Going down 1-3 with their next four opponents having a combined record of 9-3 is going to essentially eliminate their chances at making the playoffs. Here’s a look at their schedule for the next four weeks:

Week 5: @ Raiders
Week 6: vs Packers
Week 7: @ Buccaneers
Week 8: vs San Francisco
